Where was Joffrey’s harbour Goldsboro
✻✿ ✻* *.¸.*✻✿✻✿ ✻* *.¸.*✻✿✻✿ ✻* *.¸.*✻✿

I tried to find by the map from the books by AG exactly Joffrey’s Gouldsboro (I did find Katarunk already, it is Caratunk, at the banks of the river Kennebec easy to find with google maps)

Now I will explain how did I find Joffrey’s harbour Goldsboro.

... it seems that Joffrey’s Gouldsboro, as shown on map of Mrs AG, must be near river mouth of Penobscot this means as well near the port city of Bucksport ..or at least something near Nordport

https://familysearch.org/learn/wiki/en/ ... rt_map.png

Anyway, descriptions from all of the books WOULD NOT match todays Gouldsboro near of Winter Harbour in Maine

Let us see what I could find inside of the books:

book number 7, Angélique in the New World:
on the their way to Wapassu started their expedition to the interior on the banks of the Penobscot

Baron de Saint-Castine is Commander of the fort Pentagoet at the mouth of river Penobscot
Fort Pentagoet is in the neighbourhood to the beach, where Mr. de Peyrac settled his colony

It was easy to find fort Pentagoet
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fort_Pentagouet

Pentagouet is todays town Castine
Near to Bucksport in the map up there.

In the books is often mentioned Champlain’s encampment! I tried to find it

„And yet Champlain failed.” Manigault repeated.
“Yes he did. (…)
He attempted to build a settlement in an impossible position, but it is on the other site of the Gouldsboro promontory, where Champlain set up his headquarters. Whereas a half hour’s gallop
Would have bought him here, where the tide rises only forty feet.

Very important information from the books:

Joffrey’s harbour should be in Frenchman bay !!!!!!

History and maps Gouldsboro:

By the way: In last book, La Victoire d'Angélique, one of the Joffrey's ships is caled "Mount Desert"

PS. To be continued very soon. You are all very welcome here for the discussion.

Some quotes from Book Number 8: The Temptation of Angelique

(translated from Slovak, Czech & German books, I will try to find it later in English)

Baron St. Castine is actually my neighbour in Gouldsboro

Angelique sailed with Merwin on the boat around the islands, finally landed at the
Island Mount Desert

….at the foot of Mount Desert is fresh cold spring .... here did Pierre du Guast de Monts calm his thirst, when he in the year. 1604 came here and founded the first European settlement in North America

Joffrey de Peyrac left the ship in a fortified port on the right bank of the island and began to climb to the top. Gouldsboro was about a mile away by sea.
When he left his friend in Pentagoet, Count de Peyrac went to east, to Gouldsboro (…) He abstained on the road. The road was hardly viable.

When he rushed to Mont Desert, it was not because he wanted see in the distance some known sail…

Gouldsboro ... it's the beginning of the FRENCHMAN BAY

two pink tops of Mount Desert, which are called onions ……..

This hill, one sea mile away from Gouldsboro, tall fifteen hundred feet, is the highest peak of the region. It consists of two huge loaf of pink granite…..

Peyrac had no idea that just a few miles from him Angelique awakens in Fort Pentagoet….

To be continued ;)

This must be Cadillac Mountain on the Mount Desert

This means that Joffrey's Gouldsboro must be Bar Harbor, because in book it is where the Frenchman Bay starts.

Bar Harbor and Cadilac Mountain:

An the like two onions looking Mountain, mentioned in book, must be The Bubbles Mountains on the Mount Desert

Here is a map of Mount desert :

One of the most complete biography of Champlain.

Inside of it I did find precise date when Champlain landed at
Mount Desert Island, : 8 of September 5, 1604

And I do know as well where he strandet: Otter Point. I painted the place in my hand-made Gouldsboro map
here. ;)

This passage where the turmoil of his land on Mount Desert Island in the book
Mentioned as well Joffrey de Peyrac in book Angelique in love:
