The film locations overview of the movies Angélique

The authors of the Angélique films made do with relatively few locations and managed to manipulate them so deftly that reached engaging and compelling scenes without holding of the realities. Most of the scenes that take place in Poitou, Languedoc and Paris were paradoxically shot in Burgundy and perhaps the only thing that is in the right role, the castle and the park at Versailles which is shown as the Palace and Park of Versailles.
In addition, most of the scenes were created by the interiors studio Cinecittà (Rome, Lazio, Italy) and Studios de Boulogne (Boulogne-Billancourt, Hauts-de-Seine, France).

Introduction to rural castle and estate Monteloup (Poitou) was filmed at the Chateau Marigny-le-Cahouet in Burgundy. The castle is located 63 km from Dijon. It was built in the 12th century and rebuilt in the 15th and 16th centuries. The property is privately owned, but the owner can be contacted in the town of Marigny-le-Cahouet.

Scenes from the monastery in Poitiers (Poitou) were filmed at Abbey of Fontenay (in Montbard town) in Burgundy. Abbaye de Fontenay is located 80 km from Dijon and 40 km from the Château de Tanlay.

A scene from the park in Toulouse (Languedoc), where spouses the Peyrac are lying on sun loungers by the pool with a rectangular artificial waterfall was shot as well in the Abbey of Fontenay (Montbard town) in Burgundy.

Exteriors of the palace in Toulouse (Languedoc) was actually filmed at the Chateau de Tanlay in Burgundy. The castle from 16th - 17th century is accessible, although the building is not in the best condition. This also corresponds to the low price of admission.

Scenes from the Chateau de Plessis-Belliere (Poitou) were filmed at the Château d'Esclimont (Ile-de-France). Chateau is located near Paris. Today it serves as a luxury hotel.

Movie scenes in Versailles (Ile-de-France) are only exceptionally really shot in Versailles.

The scene of the execution in Suresnes (Paris, Ile-de-France), where Angélique arrived to see Bakhtiary Bei (Sami Frey) was filmed aon the front of the cathedral in Senlis (Picardy).

Exteriors of the palace Beautreillis (quartier Marais, Paris, Ile-de-France), built by Joffrey de Peyrac including the underground passage inside of the water well, that leads to the cemetery of the Innocents, were filmed at the area of the church in Senlis (Picardy).

Shot of the Château de Saint-Germain-en-Laye (Paris, Ile-de-France), where the court sometimes stayed, was actually shot in the castle Chantilly. Chantilly is a luxurious residence palace 40 km from Paris, where the courtyard of the Prince de Condé stayed, and where cook Vatel created his special sweet cream (and committed suicide).

Movie scenes from Algeria, in the novel Morocco, were filmed in Tunisia, particularly in the village of Sidi Bou Said with sea views.
